Creating Artistry Conductors Workshop

Established in a nurturing environment, Creating Artistry offers an opportunity for conductors to further develop conducting skills. Through individual and master class teaching, conductors study Conducting Gesture, Vocal Techniques, Rehearsal Efficiency, Pacing, Score Analysis, Repertoire, Dalcroze Eurhythmics, Choral Administration and Multicultural Interpretation. Laboratory choruses provide the opportunity for students to explore actively the conducting processes

Level 1: Conducting the young or inexperienced singer. Emphasis is placed on the beginning singer. Course examines methods in presenting unison and two-part repertoire, reading skills and vocal technique in the choral setting. Course work also includes developing sight-reading, pitch matching, basic conducting patterns and organization.

Level 2: Conducting the intermediate and advanced treble choir. The repertoire includes d developing part singing, exploring mixed meters, multi cultural vocal techniques and conducting more complex musical themes. Course work includes working with the boys changing voice. Must have successfully completed Level 1.

Level 3: Conducting the advanced treble chorus and mixed chorus. Conductors will continue to study the changing voice both male and female. Students will explore larger works with more complex conducting considerations such as recitatives and choral music with instrumental accompaniment. Upon request, Level 3 conductors can gain experience in classroom technique with new singers by being a part of the Choral Festival Staff. Must have successfully completed Levels 1 & 2.
